![]() I remember saying, 'Guys, I’m leaking, I’m soaking and freezing,' and everybody was so exhausted, and I could tell they were like, 'This guy’s a pain in the arse, he's being such a prima donna,' and then finally I get out, I take my suit off and we turn it upside down and turn probably two buckets of water out of it. But it took so long to get me in and tie me down to the bottom because I kept floating up – I had to be tethered to the bottom of the ocean and keep my head up like this, and I’m supposed to come up through the water but I kept floating up… So to get out was such a pain in the arse and you kept thinking they’re about to fix it and it just didn’t really happen. There were technical difficulties with the camera, which there always are when you’re filming in these extreme locations, but you just have to sit there. On filming in the most extreme locations“I had to spend about eight hours in the Icelandic Sea. When we cut, I crawled out of the car, I fell on to the ground and I have to say, the rest of that movie was a struggle." I think he was so crazy, I don’t think he applied the brakes in time and the cable didn’t hold us, so we smashed into the wall, on the edge of this building and the car goes up and then the cable pulls us back so we got double the whiplash. And they say, 'Action!' and he has to put his foot… and we’re only, maybe, 35 yards from the edge of the roof, we’re four stories up, there’s a wall perhaps three feet high and we’re going straight towards it with a cord holding us, this big cable. I got in the car and in the movie he’s like, losing his mind and it’s the one part in the movie where I have the upper hand on him, so the director says, ‘Get in and wind him up.’ But I get in and he’s already wound up, but I wind him up anyway. There was a cable that was supposed to hold the car, and he was supposed to apply the brakes and this cable was supposed to hold us. Pierce Brosnan drove me right into a wall four stories up – it wasn’t really his fault. ![]() On the time Pierce Brosnan nearly killed him, literally, while filming…“I was in a car crash in another movie that really screwed my neck up. It was great having that unity of purpose both as an army and in terms of what we were trying to make in this movie and in terms of fitness, training and that warrior spirit. But I was also surrounded by a lot of guys putting in a lot of effort. I was six hours a day: two hours with them, two hours doing the 300 work-out, two hours with my own bodybuilder… pumping 25 times before each take. to train in a way so they would actually take their hats off to me, and in a way so that you would believe that they would actually follow you. Stuntmen are my favourite people on a film set, but I had this thing that really helped me get through, which was this thought in my head that, ‘If I can train in such a way that they’re actually going, “ He is a badass…” – because I know stuntmen and they like actors but mostly they see them as wet blankets. I assume I don’t have to explain more! The workout itself is composed of 300 repetitions among the several different movements. On 300 being the most macho cast ever assembled…"I was surrounded by hundreds of stuntmen, who were amazing. The Spartan 300 Workout was inspired after the number 300. Nobody said training like a Spartan was fun. Yes, you will be doing cardio on the majority of your rest days. It is necessary to break up the training so I suggest doing it just like the Spartans themselves. Instead of your typical 5 training days, you will be training like a Spartan for 3. The training volume on the 300 Workout may be a little different then you’re used to. For specific movement pictures and instructions check out this post on the 300 Workout.

In many religions across the globe, including Christianity and Hinduism, head shaves are associated with cleansing oneself spiritually before prayer or purifying oneself after offending God (which usually means something so vile that it can’t just be forgiven). However, bald heads are still valued in some cultures as symbols of sobriety or even honor. The tonsure has a long and voracious history, from religious ceremonies to being used as punishment for criminals. You won’t need to buzz everything off because you’ll shave it all off later. Use clippers with guards 1-3 to buzz off most of your hair at an angle, starting at the crown of your head and working down towards the nape of your neck (the highest point on your head). To achieve the tonsure haircut, people either need to go bald by getting their heads shaved or ask a hair stylist at the salon for them to cut your hair in such a way that it will look like a tonsure once they’re done. Roman Catholics believe that this ritual is necessary only for people who have been baptized adults, while Anglicans believe that everyone needs to be confirmed at some point in their life–whether it be infants or adults. It is also known as the first sacrament because it signifies admission into union with Christ after being baptized. This term refers to something being of the body, which aptly summarizes this important Christian rite. It is not called tonsure in these traditions rather, it is referred to as corporal. This ritual was popularized by Catholicism, but its roots are found in Eastern Christianity. Tonsure entails the removal of all body hair- including eyebrows and eyelashes- as a symbolic representation of entering monastic life. In its earliest sense, a tonsure was just a specific type of haircut used by monks – it became associated with only priests in time due to regional culture differences between countries that adopted Christianity. ![]() Tonsures originate from old habits such as shaving off one’s beard, and cutting one’s hair short. The tonsure is the practice of removing some or all of the hair on top of the head. The Friar Tuck Haircut is perfect for men who just want an easy way to maintain short hair that can grow back easily also called the Monk Cut or Tonsure Style because it resembles what members of monasteries would wear in times past. Still, in many religions it is popular for monks and nuns to have their hair shaved as a show of dedication to a simpler life without any desires for luxuries like those made from vanity. In Christianity, not every monk and nun is required to shave their head. The term tonsure originates from Latin words tonsura, meaning haircut, or cappa, meaning hooded cloak. ![]() This comes from the thousands of years old practice of shaving or cutting off one’s hair to represent their head as an altar. It is not impossible, wrote Walter Scott, that some wandering friar may have taken up his abode in that neighborhood.įriar Tuck has a shaved head. This man was ‘commonly called frier Tuke’, though there is no evidence that he actually existed. The character of Robin Hood first appears in a 1475 ballad by Ritson, who based his work on an actual legend. This myth has been told for centuries through many different literary sources, such as Piers Plowman (1377) and The Gest of Robyn Hode. Friar Tuck is a renowned member of the Merry Men, an elite group of heroic outlaws in the folklore behind Robin Hood.
